Message PLEASE let me clarify WHO to take your car to from first hand experience with Z1 in ATL, and PIT STOP/COZ in AZ. and Greg/Specialty Z in Cali.

I recently sold my 1993TT Z which was "pristine" when it was sold. 520 rwhp on pump gas and just under 600rwhp on race gas.

Over the 15 years I owned it......it went from formerly SGP in Houston TO Z1 Motorsports in ATL (twice at last count) and then to PIT Stop which is the shop that works with Coz in AZ. Without ragging on some mentioned.......with thousands spent with various build/turbo issues........

MY cars last trip was on a flat bed to Greg/Specialty Z as the last build done by Pit Stop left AZ with LESS power than promised by allot. After a new build/many new parts etc it was a (pig) and I knew it before driving back to Dallas yet I was told by COZ to "break it in" and all would be well etc etc etc. I knew by even a little boost before leaving AZ in Januaryt 09 I think it was NOT right power wise. This after prior trips to SGP and three attempts to "get it right" with motor/turbos at Z1.......... only to find that a cracked head was to blame for repeated failed new builds and with oil leaks months after finally leaving that were a mess. Happy........no I was not at any place BUT.........with Greg at Specialty Z.

Greg took my car in and all the while kept me informed of various issues he found. SUCH as mis matched/sized exhaust pipes and all kinds of IMHO shoddy things. They all lead to my car NOT producing the power I was promised/(told) IT would make (from COZ) which royally pissed me off after spending thousands in AZ.

Greg gave me two options........fix the obvious things that were NOT set up correctly after reviewing the work from AZ OR if I wanted to guarantee the power levels I was originally expecting in AZ he gave me a list of things he suggested I do which cost more BUT that I would be happy.

My car came back perfect. The motor build in AZ seemed fine fyi........so that was good.

BUT as for GETTING IT RIGHT and delivering EXACTLY what was promised power wise Greg/Specialty Z did exactly that.

Straight out looking back over 15 years of spending tens of thousands and hearing many shops various (bs) I would not take MY car to any other place OTHER than Specialty Z.

I have receipts and emails saved with the various situations that evolved (at the other shops) to back this up in case anyone needs to know.

IF you are wanting to build a motor/add new turbos......and trust that your car will be done right AS PROMISED making the power you are told it will make..........I have been there done that at all shops mentioned and I would not ever take my car to any other shop mentioned (by me) other than Specialty Z with Greg Dupree.

May Greg be the lowest priced I doubt it BUT after wasting years at other places spending massive amounts of time/money never getting it right.........I would suggest you take your car to Greg in a heart beat.

DO yourself a favor.......do it RIGHT the first time as I am here to say that other shops I dealt with did NOT ensure it was 100% right when leaving and when I am in Dallas it sucked to find out soon after that I had to start over or had oil leaks all over or lack of power etc.

Greg knows that car inside and out as in really knows it. HE can explain things in ways the common guy can understand.

I am happy to submit emails to back up my claims here in this thread in case I am doubted.

I sold my car last year for 20k which was giving it away but it was in great running condition. I had no issues the year after I kept it after getting it back from Greg. I have the new owners info who loves it and we stay in touch. Only reason I sold it was that I wanted a newer vette to super charge and had no room for MY Z.

I hated to see it go after getting it right finally but without Gregs shop closer to Dallas I trusted no one else to work on it so it was time to move on. IF anyone needs to discuss further re my other experiences I am happy to share my emails to support what I have commented about in this thread and my post.
